Wisdom teeth are the very last set of teeth that come out around the age of 16-25, some people also call it the third pair of molars. Not everyone develops wisdom teeth, most people that do have wisdom teeth do experience complications with them.

Why Do I Need To Take Out My Wisdom Teeth?
A dentist may recommend taking out your wisdom teeth if:
- You are having trouble cleaning at the back of the mouth, meaning you may start to develop cavities, gum disease or infection.
- They are not fully erupted from the gum or bone
- The wisdom tooth does not have enough room to come out
- The wisdom tooth is erupting crooked and damaging/ moving surrounding teeth
- You are experiencing pain
What Happens During Wisdom Tooth Extraction?
Firstly, your dentist will put local anaesthetic in the area that they will be working on. Once the patient is completely numb, the dentist will probe around the wisdom tooth to make sure it is numb. Once the dentist has explained what to expect during the procedure the dentist will start to remove the tooth by using our dental instruments to loosen the tooth, once the tooth is loosened, the dentist will them remove the tooth.
If the tooth is underneath the gum or bone then the dentist may perform a surgical extraction, the dentist may make an opening where the wisdom tooth is and section the tooth. Once the tooth had been sectioned and removed, the dentist may place stiches in the area to help the healing process.

The cost of a wisdom tooth will depend on many factors ,depending on if the tooth is erupted, impacted, fractured or broken.

Dr. Sheetal Patel has been part of the Caring Dental team, serving the local community since 2009. In 2017, she assumed the role of principal dentist, succeeding Dr. Allan Taw. Known for her gentle and compassionate approach, Dr. Patel boasts over a decade of experience in comprehensive general dentistry.
Dr. Ram, originally from Canada, pursued his passion for dentistry in Australia, completing his training at Griffith University in Queensland in 2013. Known for his gentle demeanour and meticulous care, Dr. Ram is dedicated to improving oral health and transforming smiles.
Dr. Manju graduated from Griffith University in 2011 and began her career in dentistry. She started practicing in Queensland and regional New South Wales before moving to Sydney. Known for her unwavering commitment to ensuring a comfortable and pleasant dental experience for every patient, Dr. Manju is highly regarded for her gentle and caring approach.
Alana joined our practice when she was 16 years old with no experience in the dental field, with lots of hard work and training in both dental assisting and reception she has moved onto the roll of practice manager and is proudly our warm welcoming face of Caring Dental Team.
Emelia is not just our bright and cheerful dental nurse; her passion here at the caring dental team is to illuminate our patients’ faces with smiles and to ensure our nervous patients feel completely at ease during their visit with us. Beyond her nursing duties, you may also find Emelia diligently working behind the desk or attentively answering our phones whenever Alana is away. Emelia is currently pursuing a dual degree in Law and Psychology at the University of Wollongong.
Tyra is currently studying her certificate in dental assisting. Tyra enjoys assisting across various aspects of general dentistry and is eager to expand her expertise and experience in this field. Tyra ensures that everyone has a pleasant experience under her care. Tyra is very good with children. In Tyra’s free time she loves to play sports such as cricket and netball.
