A filling Is a material that is placed onto the tooth to restore the tooth to bring it back to the normal shape and function. A filling is needed when the tooth has decay, has fractured, chipped or worn down.
In our clinic, we provide composite fillings that are the same colour as your natural teeth and are more cosmetically appealing compared to amalgam (metal) fillings.
During the procedure the dentist may give you the option to use anaesthetic to numb the area up so you are more comfortable, the dentist will then make sure there is no bacteria or decay by drilling the tooth. Once the dentist has removed all the decay, the tooth will be shaped and prepped for a filling.
Once the tooth is ready for a filling, the dentist will wash, dry and bond the tooth, the tooth will be filled with a soft composite, it will then be set with a blue light to make the composite go hard. Now that the tooth is filled, the dentist will make sure it is comfortable by adjusting any rough or high spots.
